Newport Pell Bridge Demolition
Demolition of the Newport Pell Bridge approaches by J.R. Vinagro Corporation has begun using engineered plans by Siefert Associates. With each approach bridge having a somewhat unique superstructure, the team at Siefert Associates prepared an efficient calculation and drawing package that addresses all median demolition and partial deck demolition phases of the project. An excavator positioned on the superstructure was used to demolish the concrete median. In the photo below, workers are using hand chipping tools for the partial deck demolition to ensure the existing reinforcement and steel girders are not damaged in accordance with the contract drawings.
