LIRR Expansion Project - Mineola, New York

Siefert Associates, LLC [SALLC] continues to work with 3rd Track Constructors [3TC] to provide engineered lift plans for the Long Island Railroad Expansion Project. Recently, SALLC aided in the improvements at Mineola Station by providing lift plans for the G16 substation sections, transformers and bus ducts. Given the site layout, we were able to position the crane to avoid interference with existing utilities, LIRR tracks and nearby roadways, and provide 3TC with a survey location for the crane center-pin. In addition to the crane layout, we provided a detailed rigging arrangement to help 3TC make the lift safely and efficiently in the field. Rigging for the G16 substation sections consisted of an eight-point arrangement, with a pair of spreader bars and snatch blocks used to equalize the load and level the lift.
