Elmont Station [Belmont Park Redevelopment Project]
Siefert Associates [SA] has been working with Integrated Structures to erect steel girders that support the new passenger platform at Elmont Station in Elmont, New York. Elmont Station will serve the LIRR Main Line and is being constructed as part of the redevelopment of Belmont Park, which includes the new UBS Arena for the New York Islanders of the National Hockey League.
For erection of the passenger platform girders that span over the Cross-Island Parkway [CIP], SA proposed an alternate-erection method that limited the required closures of the CIP below and avoided the high-voltage wires above. SA provided an erection plan of the passenger platform girders that used a combination of Self-Propelled Modular Transporters [SPMTs] & a pair of 300-ton hydraulic cranes. In addition, SA is currently continuing to work on erection plans for the pedestrian bridge which will span the LIRR tracks and connect the North and South Tower at the station.
