East 175th Street Deck Demolition
As part of NYCDOT Project No. HBX1215, “Rehabilitation of the East 175th Street Bridge over Metro-North Railroad (MNRR)”, Siefert Associates, LLC was tasked with preparing a deck demolition procedure. Working with Beaver Concrete Construction, we prepared detailed plans that limited the number of MNRR track outages required and involved saw cutting the concrete deck slab into manageable sections, rigging them to a Caterpillar M315D excavator, and moving them to a disposal location off the bridge. Additionally, we designed a debris shield to provide safety and protection to MNRR below.
With the deck demolition successfully underway, Siefert Associates, LLC is busy preparing additional plans for the safe and efficient removal of the existing bridge girders.
