Mill Basin Drawbridge in Brooklyn, NY

Halmar International, with Siefert Associates’ working drawings, has demolished all of the original Mill Basin Drawbridge in Brooklyn, NY, with the exception of the original two control towers (tower demolition submittal in progress). An adjacent new bridge now replaces the drawbridge, originally constructed in 1940. Halmar International erected the last steel girder of the new bridge last week with Siefert Associates’ working drawings. The new bridge is 25ft taller than the original to accommodate a wider variety of boat traffic and is now partially open to flowing traffic. The photos show one of the original two towers to be demolished and the original bascule bridge prior to the start of construction; only the two control towers remain.
