ACD/EIG JV – Bayonne Bridge

On the weekend of January 19th – 21st, Atlantic Coast Dismantling / Environmental & Infrastructure Group, JV (with the help of GCCOM Construction) successfully demolished the center portion of three span continuous girders on the Bayonne Bridge approach in Staten Island, NY. The two girders, erected in 1931, were 10 feet deep and 133 feet long, with up to five cover plates at mid-span and weighed 177 kips each. The demolition needed custom beam clamps designed for the lift due to the 4-5/8 inch thick flanges. Bay Crane supplied the LTM 1500-8.1 crane required for the lift and Siefert Associates, LLC , provided all engineering.
